Advantages of washable nappies in a nutshell
When using washable nappies for 1 child, you save 630 kg of residual waste. With several children, you can turn on your meter ;-) . Moreover, the amount of water needed to produce and wash wash washable nappies is many times lower than that needed to produce disposable nappies. Sounds nice? ;-)
Ok, we'll be honest, the initial investment for washable nappies is not miniscule, but you'll get this out of it easily, even if you only use them for 1 child. With 1 child, you can already count on an average saving of 500EUR. Moreover, in many municipalities you get a premium of up to 150EUR to support you in buying washable nappies. Merci government ;-)!
For babies with sensitive skin, natural materials like cotton and bamboo often cause less irritation as they do not contain chlorine or other chemicals. Babies can also react to leftover detergents or fabric softener; therefore use unscented detergent and no fabric softener.
